PGA TOUR: The biggest winners and losers of the 2018 season
Fleetwood has yet to win a major in his career, but he came awfully close to winning one this season. He was in 6th place at six under after the third round in the Masters, but he faded in the final round and finished the tournament tied for 17th place at 4 under.
The U.S. Open is where Fleetwood truly made his mark on the season; he shot an incredible final round 63 and tied the record for lowest round ever in the U.S. Open. He was a birdie machine on Sunday finishing with 8 on the day.
If he had holed his birdie putt on 18, he would have finished tied for the tournament lead and would have broken that record. At the Open Championship he had another top 12 finish, but in the PGA Championship he was far from contention. If Fleetwood continues to play at this rate he will likely be a major champion within the next few years.
He might have won only one tournament in 2018, but it seemed like he was in contention in almost every tournament he played in. He currently has 6 top tens in just 19 tournaments played this season and is the 11th ranked golfer in the world because of that consistency.
