Willett took a couple weeks off to kick back and relax after the PGA Championship.

Prior to missing out on the weekend at Bellerive, Willett was playing well for the longest sustained period since the leadup to his 2016 Masters win.

Willett finished T8 early this summer at the Italian Open and more recently played well at a pair of Rolex Series events and a major. He finished T6 at the Irish Open, T19 at the Scottish Open and a T24 at the Open Championship.

His work with Sean Foley appears to be paying dividends, as you can see in his quotes below from The Independent.

"“I get on with Foles and he’s an incredibly upbeat man and around that time it was exactly what I needed to get out of,” Willett said before the PGA Championship. “I’m not going to call it a slump because it was probably worse than that.”"

Willett finished T13 in his only Czech Masters start back in 2014. In recent years this tournament would be beneath him. Now, it could be the elixir to get him back on another roll.

The 30-year-old Englishman is 28th on the European Tour in strokes gained off the tee. His iron play has also outperformed his overall stats as of late.
