Two Thomas’ from Belgium in the same power rankings? You better believe it. Pieters is too far adrift from making the Ryder Cup team on points, but his recent form and 2016 performance at Hazeltine has him in the mix for a captain’s pick.

Pieters has placed inside the top 40 in his last eight events and three of his last four have resulted in top-10s. That’s all fine and dandy, but he’s winless since 2016 and likely needs to grab a trophy or two to edge out the likes of Stenson, Garcia, et. al.

The 26-year-old is 21st on the European Tour in birdies and 33rd in stroke average. He’s still fighting driving accuracy issues, but shorter clubs off the tee could help him out this week.

Pieters is also 21st in putts per round.

He won his third of three European Tour titles at the 2016 Made in Denmark.
