In Tiger’s resurgent 2018, there have been a lot of “firsts” or “first time since____.” Here’s another one for you.

Woods is teeing it up this week at the BMW Championship for his third start in a row for the first time since February-March 2013. That’s one reason Woods has been so bullish on his season; he knows he’s due to eventually win if he can muster 15-20 events a year. This will be his 17th.

Woods needs a decent showing to ensure he makes his 18th start at the Tour Championship in two weeks time.

He played Aronimink in 2010 and finished T46.

Woods was on the edge of contention on the weekend but faded late for a T24. He’s made both Playoffs cuts as he tied for 40th at the Northern Trust.

Nearly a third of his starts this year have resulted in a top 10 and has been in the top 50 in 13 of 16 events.

Woods is fourth in strokes gained approaching the green and hit 71 percent of fairways last week, up from his 57.39 season average. He showed improvement with the putter, gaining three strokes on the field in the first two rounds before nearly giving it all back on the weekend.

He is 11th on Tour in fairway proximity, a good stat considering how sectioned these Donald Ross greens can be.
