Like Jamieson before, Wattel needs to step it up over the next month if he wants to extend his season. The Frenchman made his season at the KLM Open last year when he nipped Austin Connelly by one.

Wattel reached 15-under-par with four rounds in the 60s, including a 64 for the low round of the tournament.

That remains his lone win on the European Tour, but he brings in some good form to the Netherlands.

The Frenchman’s made three of his last four cuts, which have all been inside the top 43. He placed T5 at the European Open in late July.

Wattell wasn’t terribly accurate off the tee in his win here last year, but he found a way to finish 10th in greens in regulation and second in putts per GIR. I’m not a math wiz, but that seems like a formula for birdies.

It’s also likely the way he’ll try to get it done again this week. His strengths are his ball striking and putting where he’s in the positives in both, 51st and 91st respectively.
