Webb Simpson is set to make his sixth Tour Championship start and seeks his third top-five. He was 5-under through 36 holes last year and near the lead before falling back to a T13.

Simpson won for the first time since 2013 this year in an impressive performance at the Players Championship. Since then he’s missed just two cuts and has finished in the top 25 six times.

He nearly won last month in his home state at the Wyndham Championship (T2) and has gone T28-T49-T6 in the playoffs. Simpson was very steady last week with rounds of 66-67-65-65.

At 11th in the standings, he has an outside shot at taking the Cup. Based on what we saw for most of the 2017-18 season, Simpson is a sure bet to take care of his own business, but the lack of control when it comes to his season championship hopes is disappointing.

Simpson is seventh in strokes gained putting and 22nd approaching the green.
