If you take a look at Snedeker’s recent results, he’s a no-brainer to make this week’s top 10. A win at the Wyndham Championship and a T2 last week at the Safeway Open are highlights in a string of six made cuts in a row.
However, there’s some context.
For one, he’s making the 20-some hour flight across the world to Malaysia from Napa. Second, he’s dealing with some heartbreak.
Sneds led by as much as seven in the final round at the Safeway before losing his swing and falling into a three-man playoff with Kevin Tway and Ryan Moore. Tway won.
“I’m going to look back on that one in a few years, really gave that one away,” Snedeker told the media after. “I had full control.”
He’s regarded as one of the nicest, more positive guys on Tour. He’s due to bounce back, just like he did from a rib injury that robbed him of starts in 2017.
It just is hard to tell if he can pull it together so quick.
His past history shows just one start at TPC Kuala Lumpur: a T13 in 2011 where he closed with rounds of 68-67-66.
Snedeker was great on the greens per usual last week and was 18th in strokes gained putting last season. If he can find the form that helped him hit 11/14 fairways each of the first two days at the Safeway, he can contend again in his return to Malaysia.
