Chris Wood already won Britain’s top tournament, the BMW PGA Championship, in 2016. He’d love to add a British Masters title to his resume.

The three-time career winner seeks his first since 2016, though he’s come close on a number of occasions.

Wood recently finished solo second at the KLM Open and followed it up with a T12 in Portugal. He’s got three runner-ups this season, most of any on the European Tour.

Albeit at different courses, Wood has three finishes inside the top 26 at the British Masters.

His ball striking numbers aren’t awesome this year, but he was third in the field at the KLM Open in Greens in Regulation. Wood on the season also ranks 23rd in strokes gained putting.

Fitzpatrick claimed his maiden professional win at the 2015 British Masters. He’s since become a five-time European Tour winner with the latest coming just a few weeks ago.

The Englishman Fitzpatrick won another Masters, the European kind, in September to stretch his streak of years with at least one win to four.

Fitzpatrick posted a T7 the week before his win and has four top-tens in 2018.

He seems like a slam dunk this week, but buyer beware: this course hasn’t been the apple of Fitzpatrick’s eye.

“My experiences of Walton Heath have been a mixed bag, I wouldn’t say I have too much good form around there, apart from a good practice round once!” Fitzpatrick said in a European Tour press release. “But I’m looking forward to it. The golf course is really tough so I think it will be good when we go there in October.”

Perhaps he just needs some competitive reps at Walton Heath. His ranks of 46th in driving accuracy and 24th in strokes gained approaching the green set up favorably.
