CJ Cup @ Nine Bridges: Power ranking the top 10 at Jeju Island
The U.S. Open and PGA Championship winner adds some star power to this event. Koepka, who was recently named 2017-18 PGA Tour Player of the Year, comes to South Korea off of a T7 in his last start at the European Tour’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
Koepka didn’t star at the Ryder Cup, but he didn’t play poorly, either. Add in three top-20s in the FedEx Cup Playoffs and I’m prone to think he’ll win one of these non-majors sooner or later.
This is his debut at Nine Bridges, but it’s a course that appears to set up well for him: wide fairways that lead to target golf with water and sand protecting greens.
Buyer beware: It’s a little unsure how raring to go Koepka will be. He spent a couple weeks in Europe for the Ryder Cup and Dunhill Links and then presumably went back to Florida for the week. Making the 13-hour trek back east could be a bit much, but travel also isn’t what it used to be. Methinks this is a safe pick when it comes down to it, but rolling with someone who was already established in Asia isn’t a bad idea, either.
