Andalucia Valderrama Masters: Power rankings at Real Club
The Joost is loose.
After sitting out five months nursing a wrist injury, the curly-haired Dutch is back at it.
If this wasn’t his first tournament back, I’d likely have Luiten higher as this is a course he’s handled well over the years. He posted T5 in his debut before settling for runner-up in 2016 and 2017. Last year even included an albatross.
Not only does he have good form at Valderrama, but he was also playing well prior to the injury. Luiten, 32, won the Oman Open and had made six cuts in a row (four top-25s) before a missed cut in his last start at the BMW PGA Championship.
It’s tough to know what kind of form Luiten can produce in his first event back, but methinks there’s a good reason he pinpointed this tournament for his return.
