If not the host Sergio Garcia, Jorge Campillo is one of the top Spanish candidates to win on home soil.

Campillo bounced back from a missed cut at the 2016 Open de Espana to finish T36 at Valderrama in 2017.

He’s climbed from 211th in the world to 90th since the end of 2017 thanks to a stunning seven top-10s, six of which were actually top-fives.

He’s cooled a bit in recent months, but a T15 at the KLM Open isn’t far off. Campillo, 32, is rested after taking last week off.

Campillo ranks 16th in stroke average by hitting lots of greens and making putts. He’s 36th in GIR and 13th in strokes gained putting on the European Tour.

There will be some pressure on him not only to win at home, but also for his first career win. It’s due to come someday, and this week would be great timing.
