Padraig Harrington just won’t go away. It appeared the 46-year-old had fallen off the map as he dropped to No. 346 in the world in August.

The PGA Tour schedule was not kind to the perceived 2020 European Ryder Cup captain, but a return to Europe did him well. He finished second and fifth at the Czech Masters and KLM Open, respectively.

His last two starts also show a T7 and T22 against stronger fields at the Alfred Dunhill Links and British Masters.

Harrington knows Valderrama well. He has four top-10s in nine starts and posted T27 last year.

The crafty vet is fourth on the European Tour in scrambling this year and is hitting plenty of greens despite poor numbers off the tee. He’ll find a way to give himself chances somehow, but the putter will have to cooperate.
