Thomas Pieters made a nice debut at Regnum Carya in 2017. The Belgian finished T11 by firing 69-67-66-70 to finish a modest six shots off the pace. Plus, that result came in his fourth week in a row playing.

This time, he’ll be on his second week in a row as he aims to build off of a T18 at the WGC-HSBC Champions.

Pieters was fifth in driving accuracy by sacrificing a bit of distance off the tee in last year’s event. He was also 12th in greens in regulation.

Pieters has come back down to earth a bit in recent weeks, but he nearly played his way into a Ryder Cup captain’s pick with his strong play in the summer. Starting with the Italian Open in May, Pieters finished in the top 40 in nine straight events. He logged three top-10s but failed to come up with a win.

If he can record his first win since the 2016 Made in Denmark, he’ll be in good position to make a run at the Race to Dubai top 10.
