Turkish Airlines Open: Power ranking the top 10 at Regnum Carya
Lucas Bjerregaard’s best golf has come against relatively weak fields. That is, until he won this fall’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. The Dane earned his second European Tour win in as many years by taming not only Kingsbarns, Carnoustie and St. Andrews, but by fending off two-time defending champion Tyrrell Hatton and a host of other big names.
That was vindication for a strong season now listing nine top-10s, including a runner-up and third place, in 24 starts worldwide.
Bjerregaard sputtered last week at the WGC-HSBC Champions (T69), but it was the first blemish in weeks. He finished T9 a few weeks ago at the British Masters and has five top-10s and a T20 in his last seven starts.
The 27-year-old hopes his current form can lead to an improvement at the Turkish Airlines Open. Bjerregaard finished T31 in 2016 and T48 in 2017. Still, he posted two 67s in 2016 and just couldn’t quite get on a birdie binge last year (70-70-70-72).
Bjerregaard is fifth on the Euro Tour in birdie average, 19th in strokes gained tee to green and 45th in strokes gained around the green.
