Mayakoba Golf Classic: Top 10 power rankings at El Camaleon
It took Ryan Moore four years to come back to the Mayakoba Golf Classic in 2017. Now, this could be an annual event on his schedule. He debuted at El Camaleon in 2013 with a T23 and improved to a T6 in 2017.
The former UNLV Rebel is 22-under in those eight rounds. In fact, five of his eight rounds came in at 69 or better.
He’s one of the winningest players in the field with five for his career. The sixth nearly came this fall at the Safeway Open. Moore succumbed in a three-man playoff.
Moore had a tough Asian swing but ticked back upward with a T36 last week at the Shriners.
Last season’s stats rank him 28th in proximity from 125-150 yards. The combination of a short course and the fact that he’s fourth in driving accuracy and 23rd in strokes gained around the green make this a great setup a short and straight player.
