Mayakoba Golf Classic: Top 10 power rankings at El Camaleon
Cameron Champ followed up his breakout win at the Sanderson Farms Championship with a solid T28 the following week in Vegas.
That makes three top-30s in three starts for the rookie who debuted with a T25 at the Safeway Open.
Champ leads the PGA Tour in the early going in strokes gained off the tee. He’s also fourth in birdie average and 33rd in strokes gained putting.
El Camaleon isn’t the ideal course for the free swinger Champ but he has the shots to win anywhere. He also got a spot in last year’s field (MC), so this will be a rare course this season he’ll have already seen.
It’s his third tournament in as many weeks so fatigue may be a concern but he played a ton of golf last year on the Web.com Tour and also had two weeks off prior to this stretch.
