On the whole, Lucas Bjerregaard didn’t play poorly at last year’s Nedbank Golf Challenge. Still, how many players can you remember winning while shooting a 78? I’m stumped.

A lousy Friday ruined what was otherwise a solid week that otherwise featured scores of 70, 72 and 71 to finish T34.

He posted T32 in 2016.

Bjerregaard’s recent play is scorching, however.

The Dane is coming off a T5 last week at the Turkish Airlines Open. He ranked top-10 in the field in driving accuracy, driving distance and greens in regulation.

Earlier this fall, Bjerregaard beat a strong field at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and was also T9 at the British Masters. He’s up to six top-10s in his last eight starts and eight top-10s for the year.

He can hit the ball a mile and is second in birdie average. He’s also ninth in strokes gained tee to green and is a lock to contend whenever his putter is working.
