Sam Ryder is one of the PGA TOUR’s hottest players as we head into the latter part of the fall season. Through three starts, Ryder has a pair of top-five finishes, including last week at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, where he finished solo third.

Conveniently for daily fantasy golf players, he accomplished that on the heels of a strong weekend, including a Sunday round of nine-under 62. He finished the week at TPC Summerlin ranked third in strokes gained tee-to-green, and he backed that up with a white-hot putter.

Small sample size aside, Ryder is averaging over 102 fantasy points per start, which is the fourth-highest mark in the field. He ranks behind only Rickie Fowler, Gary Woodland and Luke List, and he’s a little over a point ahead of Cameron Champ. As the only player in that group with a salary below $9,000 on DraftKings, that’s just about the textbook definition of “value”.

Ryder did miss the cut at Camaleon last year, shooting 73-69 in the first two rounds, but then again, so did eventual Masters champion Patrick Reed, and Rookie of the Year Aaron Wise. Considering the growth Ryder has displayed, I’m not going to take one bad week as a reason to abandon him when he’s playing some of his best golf.
