DP World Tour Championship: Power Ranking the top ten in Dubai
Eddie Pepperell’s career year continued in his last start when he won on a rain-soaked Sunday at the British Masters a few weeks back. Now rested up, he’ll try to continue his strong play.
The Englishman has recorded six top-10s (including two runner-ups) in his last nine starts going back to July, the same month his last missed cut occurred. He also won earlier this year at the Qatar Masters.
Pepperell will hope his current form overrides his past at Jumeirah. He was still an up and comer when he finished T26 in 2014 and 58 in 2015, but he was in good enough form to hope for better than T48 last year. Still, middle rounds of 70 and 66 show he can put it all together on the Earth course.
This season on the European Tour, the 27-year-old has stood out in part because of his ball striking. He ranks third in strokes gained approaching the green and 10th in SG tee to green. He’s down in the putting ranks but has more than made up for it with a great short game (third in SG around the green).
Even if he doesn’t quite have it this week, a bottom-end result inside the top 30 seems like a good bet.
