The Match: Five most interesting prop bets for Tiger vs. Phil
The Match is upon us at last. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will tee it up at Shadow Creek this afternoon. For those of us who can’t be there live in Las Vegas, though, that doesn’t mean we need to miss out on all the wagering action. Here are five prop bets for you to watch as the two legends battle it out for $9 million.
Shadow Creek is a gambler’s haven – for the longest time, the only way to even get onto the course grounds was to secure an invitation from legendary Vegas magnate Steve Wynn himself. While it’s not quite as hard to get in anymore, it’s still extremely exclusive. And this all makes it a perfect host for “The Match”.
Greens fees begin at no less than $500, and the only way to get one is to be a guest at an MGM Resorts property, with the exclusion of ultra-budget properties Circus Circus and Excalibur. Not that you should be staying at those hotels anyway, especially if you’re the type that would spend the $500 on a greens fee. Seriously, have some respect for yourself, will you?
Tee times are only available to the public between Monday and Thursday, and you’ll still potentially have some competition. Former Presidents, high-dollar business people and celebrities from all walks of life tend to make the exclusive club their course of choice when visiting Sin City. Michael Jordan, Matt Damon, Derek Jeter, Wayne Gretzky – all are members who you won’t likely bump elbows with, but you may get a tee time bumped for.
Of course, we’re here to talk about The Match between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. The two all-time greats are set to tee off on Friday in a match that has been hugely anticipated. Despite some challenges that have turned some fans off, the two showmen are certain to entertain anybody who tunes in on Pay-Per-View or live streaming.
A major part of the show will be the side bets between Lefty and the GOAT, but what about the rest of us? The Match offers plenty of betting opportunities for fans online and in Las Vegas alike. A lot of the props being offered are for fun: What color shirt Tiger wears (red, obviously – hammer this one at +300 for FREE MONEY) and how many times he’ll twirl his club (I’m taking the over on 3.5). But there are plenty covering the on-course action. That’s where we’re focusing today.
All of the props here are found at OddsShark.com, so go ahead and check them out for the full spread. And of course, play responsibly! We wouldn’t want you to blow your entire holiday budget here, especially when we’ve got the Golfer’s Gift Guide going for Black Friday (hey, I’m nothing if not a company man).
Let’s get into it!
