1. Where was the trash talk that was promised?

Tiger and Phil have turned into respected friends in the latter portion of their career, but at one point they were depicted as bitter rivals by the media. During the match they definitely came off as two socially awkward friends in their forties that did not quite know how to get under the other ones skin.

There were some quality barbs here and there setting up side challenges as well as before the match. When Phil was talking about how Tiger came out in his classic red and Tiger commented on how Phil was wearing black because it was “slimming”. Could have been a subtle fat joke there, but there was hardly any comedic value to this broadcast other than Charles Barkley commentating here and there throughout the match and getting called out on twitter.

The most interesting thing the two of them said during the round were probably Phil’s anecdotes. Also, seeing how his personality is far from Tiger in regards to dealing with fans and members of the crew around the course. Tiger is known for his laser focus that made him the most feared player golf has ever seen, while Phil is known for being one of the more approachable personalities on tour. The broadcast often noted how Phil is like a Maitre d’ the way he greets everyone around the course and that was definitely on display because of the microphones.
