Gaganjeet Bhullar is a proven winner in Asia. He’s starting to prove he can contend on the European Tour, too.
The 30-year-old Indian is 4-for-6 this year in making the cut in European Tour co-sanctioned events. He won the Fiji International this summer, picked up a T7 at the Czech Masters and was also T27 at the PGA Tour’s CIMB Classic. It had to have been cool for him to beat Ernie Els (T3) among others in his win in Fiji.
He’s hit over 70 percent of his fairways and greens on the European Tour and is also 44th in scrambling.
Bhullar made for a good pairing with countryman Anirban Lahiri last week when the two finished T10 representing India. In four balls, they fired a 64 on Thursday.
“We both really enjoyed ourselves. We gelled together really well,” Bhullar was quoted by The Indian Express. “We were talking about it, it’s been maybe four or five years since the EurAsia Cup that we teamed last time, so it was a good reunion.”
This will be Bhullar’s Australian PGA Championship debut.
He should be well rested after taking a few weeks off prior to the World Cup.
