Picking against Louis Oosthuizen in his home country just seems counter-intuitive.

The eight-time European Tour winner doubled up at the African Open in 2011 and 2012 and has a slew of other high finishes in South Africa.

He just picked off a solo third-place finish in his last start at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in Sun City, South Africa. That was his fifth consecutive top-11 at that event.

King Louis has been in fine form this fall regardless of locale.

The 36-year-old finished T5 at the CIMB Classic and T29 at the CJ Cup in Asia in October.

For 2018, Oosthuizen has four top-10s and only four missed cuts.

He posted a career best 13th in strokes gained around the green last season on the PGA Tour. The sweet swinger was also 62nd in SG tee to green.

Oosthuizen grew up on the other side of the country in Mossel Bay, but he should still have plenty of support from the galleries.

He would have liked to have played Randpark at last year’s Joburg Open, but a freak airport accident injured his fingers and forced him to withdraw. Assuming his digits are holding up OK this time around, Oosthuizen is a big favorite this week.
