Jason Day has been on the cusp of breaking through for another win for a while now. The Aussie’s posted a top-25 in 11 of his last 12 starts, but none resulted better than T5.

That’s not to say 2018 was winless  as he’s the Farmers Insurance Open defending champ and followed it up with a win at Quail Hollow.

Day also won a World Junior Championship here at Torrey Pines in 2015 and was T2 in 2014.

His consistency shown last year makes him for a great selection this week.

Though his ball striking stats weren’t all that impressive last season as usual, he made up for it by finishing fifth on Tour in strokes gained approaching the green and second in strokes gained putting.

At 14th in driving distance, he’s going to be able to attack the par-5s this week and have shorter clubs in than most of the field.

Day has one start under his belt in 2019, a solo 13th a few weeks ago at the Tournament of Champions. He ended on a high note by firing a Sunday 66.

Only Tiger and Phil have won the Farmers Insurance Open more than twice, meaning Day can join an exclusive club by picking up his third win this week.
