AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am: Power ranking the top ten pros
Tommy Fleetwood is the only player in this week’s power rankings who will be making his Pebble Beach Pro-Am debut. That goes to show the type of talent this 28-year-old Englishman has. He also keeps the stretch of non-American players making an impact running in this week’s rankings.
He’s dipped his toes into playing on the PGA Tour in recent years and will be making more starts stateside in 2019. Based on what we’ve seen over the last year and more, he’s clearly quite ready for the challenge.
Fleetwood opened the year on the European Tour where he finished T42 and T16 in the United Arab Emirates. With a week off, he’s in the US for the first time since the FedEx Cup Playoffs, where he reeled off four straight top-20s. Fleetwood’s made 11 straight cuts worldwide and in that span he’s finished T42 or better in 16 total events.
This will kick off several starts for him in the U.S. leading up to the PLAYERS Championship in March and the Masters in April.
Last season on the PGA Tour he was statistically great across the board. Fleetwood finished 34th or better in the main strokes gained categories including ninth tee to green. He was second in par-5 scoring as well.
Fleetwood doesn’t have much history putting on poa annua but overall he was solid last season at 38th in strokes gained putting.
His consistency is valuable for fantasy leagues and it’d be a surprise to see him outside the top 10 or 20, even with him playing a first-time event.
