Save for maybe Justin Rose, Bryson DeChambeau is the hottest golfer on the planet right now.

The 25-year-old has finished inside the top-20 in 10 straight events going back to the PGA Championship in August. Since then, he’s won two FedEx Cup Playoff events and again a few weeks ago at the Dubai Desert Classic on the European Tour.

In 2019, DeChambeau went 7-T10 in Hawaii and 1-T6 playing in the Middle East. Those four rounds have netted scores of 69-68-70-71, 69-67-63-67, 66-66-68-64, 68-68-68-65. Those are all under-par rounds for those scoring at home.

His PGA Tour stats obviously don’t count Dubai or Saudi Arabia, but they’re still pretty robust in the early going in 2018-19: Fourth in strokes gained off the tee and third tee to green with positive marks across the board.

DeChambeau was far from where he’s at with his game when he first arrived to Riviera in 2017. The young pro was struggling and withdrew after 28 holes, which drew some ire from his competitors.

When he returned to Riviera in 2018, his game was just beginning to uptick as he finished T41 (71-69-72-72). A few weeks later he was runner-up at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, then he was off and running.

DeChambeau said after Saudi Arabia he’d like to improve his wedges, but that’s about all you can fault in his game right about now.
