Xander Schauffele looked good in his Riviera debut in 2018. The California native finished T9 and shot par or better all four days (71-70-68-68). He overcame a tough ball striking week with some good putting.

Nowadays, the X Man is still putting well (fifth on Tour in strokes gained), but he’s also a better ball striker than how he showed last year in LA. He’s 28th this season in strokes gained tee to green and is also sharp around the greens (12th in strokes gained).

Schauffele has looked good in 2019 and took a week off for rest leading into the Genesis Open.

He shot arguably the round of the year so far, a Sunday 62, to come back to win the Tournament of Champions. Schauffele then took T25 at the Farmers Insurance Open and T10 at the Phoenix Open.

Schauffele has been very consistent since coming on Tour, particularly of late. He’s recorded six straight top-25s as well as nine in his last 10.

Schauffele is 32nd in par-4 scoring and eighth on par-5s.

Lastly, he’s eighth in strokes gained putting and shouldn’t be fazed by poa annua.
