Jon Rahm is a walking top 10 these days. The 24-year-old Spaniard collected his sixth in a row and fifth in 2019 at last week’s Genesis Open. Rahmbo finished T9 and was one of only a handful of players to post four rounds of par or better during a bad weather week at Riviera (67-70-69-71).

He has a good record at the WGC-Mexico, too. He finished T3 (67-70-67-68) in 2017 and T20 (67-71-70-70) last year. A course like Chapultepec isn’t too far off from the tree-lined ones he grew up playing in Spain.

“It’s the beauty of old-style golf course like this, right? You have so many different options, so many different strategies off the tee that you learn something every day,” Rahm said during the 2017 tournament. “You really have to take into consideration where the pin’s going to be and what second shot you want to have.”

Rahm’s got 17 rounds measured on the PGA Tour this season, so we’ll roll with his 2018-19 stats. He’s 18th in strokes gained tee to green and will be able to do the usual damage on long par-4s and par-5s, even with irons off the tee.

You don’t pile up top-10s without a semblance of a well-rounded game, which Rahm has. He’s solidly in the positive in the main strokes gained categories and has some good finesse numbers. Rahm is 47th in SG putting and 34th in scrambling.

He’s grown to be one of the favorites of the Spanish-speaking galleries, which could help lift him to what would be his fourth worldwide win since 2018.
