Raise your hand if you’ve heard of Shaun Norris… Anyone?

Shaun Norris is a South African golfer who currently plays on several tours, including the aforementioned Sunshine Tour as well as the Japan Tour, where he was victorious at the 2018 Heiwa PGM Championship.

At 83rd in the world Norris is ranked ahead of Kevin Chappell, Ryan Moore and Charl Schwartzel.

In addition to his victory at the Heiwa PGM Championship, Norris finished second the week prior at the Japan Open Golf Championship. In a span of two weeks Norris saw his Official World Golf Ranking rise from 126th to 76th.

Norris made a brief appearance in the limelight last year at the British Open when during the third round he was paired with Tiger Woods. Woods shot a 66 that day that vaulted him up the leaderboard; however Norris shot a very respectable 69. Given the South African is far from used to playing in front of such large crowds.

In 2017, during his only other appearance at the British Open, Norris shot a blistering 65 during the third round at Royal Birkdale. However it was his putting style that got all of the attention as several members of the media questioned whether he was in fact anchoring his club.

“They can come and actually walk with me,” Norris said. “I’ve had officials walk with me in Asia and they can stand right next to me for all I care.”

Shaun has appeared in the last two British Opens where he finished T-62 & T-61, respectively.

He is currently listed at 300/1 odds of winning this week
