Aaron Rai is a British golfer of Indian descent who currently plays on the European Tour.

At just 23 years of age, Rai is one of the youngest competitors at this weeks WGC Mexico and has to be beyond excited to tee it up with some of the best in the world.

Rai was victorious at the 2018 Honma Hong Kong Open where he edged out the former world #1 ranked amateur Matthew Fitzpatrick by 1 shot.

The Hong Kong Open is a pretty big tournament on the European Tour. Tommy Fleetwood, Sergio Garcia and Patrick Reed were among the participants in the 2018 version.

Rai is an immensely talented golfer who has the ability of shooting an extremely low score, but Aaron is far from your typical pro golfer

First off he plays with both a right and left handed glove on ala Tommy “Two Gloves” Gainey.

In addition, and of much more interest to the twitterverse, Rai uses iron covers for his clubs. Yes, really…

Rai was a bit of a golfing sensation growing up in England although at an early age he was keen on being a race car driver, even going so far as to wear Ferrari t-shirts to some of his junior tournaments. Rumor has it that as a 15 year old Rai made 207 consecutive 10 footers.

Don’t be surprised to see Rai’s name on the leaderboard this week as he’s been playing quite well. He’s currently listed at 150/1 odds of winning this week.
