A Thurman Munson

Mr. Munson played baseball for the New York Yankees in the 1970s. Tragically, he passed away in a plane crash at the end of that decade.

That makes him a Dead Yank – as in pulling a shot so badly it’s lost or otherwise dead.

“I hit a Thurman Munson on #7 and ended up with a Snowman.”

The O.J. Simpson

I heard this from a Scottish caddie named Phil. He said he accidentally used it while caddying in a foursome at Royal Troon that included Judge Lance Ito. I’m skeptical, but it was a great story.

The OJ occurs when you make a horrible strike on the ball but somehow it ends up landing in a good spot. You might want to make sure that the people you are playing with have a good/slightly dark sense of humor for this one.

“That was an OJ Simpson.”

“Huh?”

“You took a stab at it and got away with it.” (Too soon?)
