Bryson DeChambeau shows his temper once again
Bryson DeChambeau was caught on camera during the opening round of the WGC-Mexico damaging a green. This is the second time in recent memory that the mad professor has let his temper get the best of him.
Bryson DeChambeau has been in the news a lot lately, and for many different reasons. Yes, he has been winning his fair share of tournaments since entering into the PGA Tour on a full schedule. He has also made a splash for playing with the same length clubs, and for his notorious slow play.

Unfortunately for him, he is in the news once again, and this time it is for something even worse. The opinion on slow play seems split. Some don’t mind it, and for others, it frustrates them worse than bad drivers on the road. This time, DeChambeau is in the news for damaging greens, and he was caught red handed.
That’s definitely not a good look for Mr. DeChambeau. As Rich Beem is being interviewed, you can see Bryson standing behind him. He gets his club from the caddie and smashes it into the green. Personally, this seems like it borders on disqualification, as it sets a bad precedent for all involved. It isn’t even the first time he has lost his temper in recent memory.
Just last week, While playing at the Genesis Open, he found himself taking out his frustrations on a bunker. As he walked out of the bunker, he swung, and swung hard, at the edge of the bunker, taking out a large divot.
I like Bryson DeChambeau. That is, i used to like Bryson DeChambeau. The funny hat, the interesting takes on golf. Involving physics and math in your shots to try and be as efficient as possible. All of those things were interesting and good natured.
Now, he seems like he can’t get out of his own way. He has been criticized for his slow play. He is throwing tantrums on the course (don’t forget the meltdown last year at the driving range at Carnoustie last year). For someone that has a chance to become the next face of golf, he doesn’t seem to be doing a very good job at it.
Only 25 years old, there is definitely time for Bryson to figure it out and turn the public perception around. He did come out and apologize for his actions, but that was a given. Anyone who gets caught doing anything in today’s world is going to apologize. Especially when they have PR people and the tour asking them to do so. For him to really turn it around, he is going to need to start acting like he belongs on the big stage, and working on becoming a better role model.
