Honda Classic: Top 10 power rankings
Billy Horschel fits the mold of a quality ball striker who can pop up and win.
He quietly had a solid 2018 that did not feature a win but had five top-10s including two runner-ups. One of which was at the Tour Championship.
So far in 2019, Billy Ho has made both of his 36-hole cuts and tallied a solo eighth against a tough field at Torrey Pines.
He took two weeks prior to a T45 last week at the WGC-Mexico, so he should be ready to play in his home state of Florida.
Horschel’s Honda Classic resume is spotty. He’s missed four cuts in seven starts but made a lot out of his times on the weekend. He finished T8 (73-70-66-69) in 2016 and T4 (70-68-67-68) in 2017.
If things get blustery this week like it’s prone to, I like Horschel to power through it and still rack up greens. He’s 38th in GIR this season.
Horschel is 58th in strokes gained putting, which should only improve coming on the Florida Swing.
His precision on approaches has some room to improve, but this is more of a week where just getting it on the putting surface is a job well done.
