Valspar Championship: Power ranking the top 10 at Innisbrook
Webb Simpson has about as much experience at the Copperhead Course as any of the top players in the field do. This will be his 10th Valspar Championship start.
The 33-year-old’s high finish was second in 2011 to highlight three top-10s and seven made cuts. Simpson fired 71-68-70-70 to finish T8 last year. He was one of just 11 players to shoot par or better all four rounds.
Simpson didn’t do anything flashy but was tidy around the greens after hitting a modest 63.89 percent of them.
Simpson is 4-for-4 this season on Tour in cuts made and has not finished outside the top 40. His high mark is solo third at the RSM Classic in the fall with a T16 last week in his title defense at the Players his best recent result.
He is 23rd in driving accuracy and also 59th in proximity from the rough. He’s 23rd in proximity from 200-225 yards.
Simpson is 12th in strokes gained around the green and fifth in sand saves.
This will be Simpson’s second event in a row and third in four weeks.
