Dark Horses – The Ones you Might Know

During every tournament, there is bound to be a couple of names that pop up and make you say “Wait, who is that?”. A top finish by one of them can easily vault them way up the World Golf Rankings, and earn them praise and ease their anxiety about choosing the PGA Tour as a career.

Some of them spark that little voice in the back of your head, as you swear you have seen them before. Whether it is because they were on the bubble last year for making it into the FedEx Cup playoff, or that they are players who have fallen off from where they once were, you do slightly recognize them.

There are even some former Major winners ranked down here. From guys like Zach Johnson (84) who has two majors, to Danny Willett (79), Jimmy Walker (103), and Martin Kaymer (188). Looking to get back to their former glory, these are all golfers worth keeping an eye on, as you know they have the talent to make a run, they just need to find it once again.

Then there are those that keep popping up on your radar. Whether its a run at a major like Thomas Pieters (83) had a couple years ago at the Masters, perennial gambling favorite Jhonattan Vegas (80), or Pan Cheng-tsung, who is better known as C.T. Pan (108), who was one of two local golfers to make the cut at the 2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay.

Any of these golfers would be a good choice for your rooting interests. My picks for you would be the youngster C.T. Pan (108), Zach Johnson (84), or Australian Aaron Baddeley (207).
