Group of Death: Group 12 (Jason Day, Phil Mickelson, Henrik Stenson, Jim Furyk)

Man, this group will be a bloodbath! Jason Day is the former World #1 and a Major Champion who ranks 7th for the 2018-19 PGA Tour Season in Total Strokes Gained. With the exception of last weeks’ Valspar Championship he has finished no worse than 16th in the 2018-19 PGA Tour season.

Phil Mickelson, the future Hall of Famer, has found the fountain of youth. Though he struggled at The Players and missed the cut, the 48-year old won at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-AM last month and is one of the worlds’ most dangerous players. Phil has also played in the WGC Match Play each season since it has moved to Austin Country Club and made the Quarterfinals in 2017.

To make this group even more challenging, Group 12 has two additional major champions who will be difficult to beat. Henrik Stenson won the 2016 Open Championship and dominated in match play at the 2018 Ryder Cup, winning each of his 3 matches. Jim Furyk is the lowest ranked player in the group but may be the hottest, as he had a thrilling Runner-Up finish at The Players Championship.

These four players have combined for 79 (!) career PGA Tour wins, and whomever emerges from this ‘Group of Death’ will deserve their spot in the Round of 16.
