Tiger Watch: Group 13 (Tiger Woods, Patrick Cantlay, Brandt Snedeker, Aaron Wise)

Tiger is on the prowl once again this week. He is a three-time winner at this Match Play event, though this is his first appearance at Austin Country Club. There is sure to be a learning curve at the new track but Tiger has to feel comfortable with his Group 13 draw.

Patrick Cantlay is 11th in Total Strokes Gained this PGA Tour Season and tied for 6th at the WGC-Mexico Championship last month. However, he just missed the cut at The Players.

Brandt Snedeker has 9 wins in his career but has not found success in this event. Since the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play moved to Austin, Snedeker has only once advanced from the Group Stage. That was in 2016, and he was eliminated in the Round of 16. To further showcase Brandt’s match play struggles, he has never finished in the Top-8 at this event even when played at other venues.

Rounding out the group is Aaron Wise, the 2017-18 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year. It has been a tough go for Aaron his sophomore year, as he ranks 119th in Total Strokes Gained this season and has only one Top-20 finish in 2019.

Group 13 is not a cakewalk for Tiger, but he has good odds of advancing out of the Group Stage and continuing his preparations for the Masters.
