Group Stage Match I’m Most Excited For: Patrick Reed vs. Sergio Garcia

I’ll close it out by looking at the match I am thrilled to watch, featuring the past two Masters Champions. On the course, Sergio seems to have the advantage: he ranks 20th in Total Strokes Gained this PGA Tour Season and has made the cut in each PGA Tour event he has played this year.

Patrick, on the other hand, finds himself in trouble: he is currently 74th in Total Strokes Gained, has only one Top-10 finish in nine events this 2018-19 PGA Tour season, and had an impromptu lesson with David Leadbetter after an opening 77 at last weeks’ Valspar Championship.

However, this matchup is not about the stats, as it features two of the Ryder Cup’s fiercest competitors. Sergio is a European legend in match play; he has played in nine Ryder Cup’s and has compiled a stunning 22-12-7 record. He is one of the worlds’ premier match play players and he will surely bring the fire to his match with Patrick.

Reed is obviously no slouch either; ‘Captain America’ struggled at Le Golf National but still has a career 7-3-2 record in the Ryder Cup, along with a 4-2-2 career Presidents’ Cup record. Reed has never lost in singles in five matches either event, further showcasing his match play prowess.

This matchup has a chance to be thrilling, pitting two of the world’s feistiest players battling one-on-one. I cannot wait for them to duel; plus, there’s always a chance Sergio goes off:
