Fowler has long played the Houston Open the week before the Masters, so he shifts over to the Texas Open.

It’s his first appearance at TPC San Antonio and gives the tournament some star power it desperately needs.

The 30-year-old had good first quarter of 2019 by hanging on to win the Phoenix Open and finish T2 at the Honda Classic.

He played four weeks in a row from the WGC-Mexico Championship to the Players a few weeks ago, so a couple weeks away, including skipping the WGC-Match Play, should have him recharged for an important stretch coming up.

Fowler has plenty of experience on Bermuda and playing in Texas from his Big 12 days at Oklahoma State. He ranks seventh on Tour in strokes gained and 37th in GIR. That’s a good combo around here.

As long as he can avoid the big miss off the tee (126th in driving accuracy), he should still be able to pile up birdies on a tough course (4.69 birdies made per round, 9th).

This would be his first win in Texas and would make him one of the top favorites at Augusta if he enters on a high.
