Of the many things Rickie Fowler is known for, one is his impressive resume at the majors shy of actually winning one. The Masters is a microcosm.

He fired a weekend low 65-67 last year to push Patrick Reed to the finish. Fowler ended up at 14-under (which would have won by five of the last seven Masters) and just one back for solo second.

Even though it didn’t net a win, it showed he could rise to the occasion on Sunday instead of regress. Sure, the pressure of coming back from five down is different than playing in the final group, but it’s still a positive.

His play in 2019 has had some positives as well.

Fowler did just enough on Sunday to hang on to win the Phoenix Open. He cashed a big check at the Honda Classic (T2), picked up two top-10s to close the 2018 portion of this season’s schedule and was solid in last week’s warm up at the Texas Open (T17).

The 30-year-old has made 16 cuts in a row worldwide going back to the 2018 Players. His streak is 10 in the majors, which includes seven top-25s in the span.

Fowler also owns a T5 at the 2014 Masters, a T11 in 2017 and T12 in 2015 as part of seven made cuts in eight starts.

The orange-clad golfer is in the positive in all the main strokes gained categories on Tour including eighth in putting.

Fowler is long enough to hang in there if Augusta plays soft. He also knows full well by now where to pick his spots and can mount the big run if he needs it as he’s 11th on Tour in birdie average.
