RBC Heritage: Top 10 power rankings at Harbour Town
Hey, remember when Patrick Cantlay led late on Sunday at the Masters? It was a fleeting moment, but overall it was the 27-year-old’s closest call in a major and first top-10.
He was off the map at Augusta opening with two rounds of 73 before flirting with the course record of 63 (he shot 64) and finishing a 68.
Cantlay is still seeking his first win since the 2017 Shriners, but he’s getting close. He was runner-up at that event this fall and has six top-10s in 2018-19.
Speaking of top-10, that’s where Cantlay was at his tournament debut at the 2018 RBC Heritage. He posted 67-72-68-68 to reach 9-under and T7, three shots back.
Cantlay had a great ball striking week, hitting 67.86% fairways and 72.22% greens in regulation.
He’s in the positive in all the main strokes gained categories on Tour including 10th tee to green.
Cantlay’s distance (14th) won’t be fully unleashed, but he’ll find a lot more fairways (172nd in accuracy). He’s eighth in proximity from the fairway, so finding the short grass is huge.
