Patton Kizzire – 80/1

“Give me fuel, give me fire, give me Patton Kizzire” is a fantastic line, all the credit to Mike Randleman’s tweet on that one. I saw it over the weekend, and seeing as I was going to have Kizzire in this article, it seemed a perfect fit.

Along with the next entrant on my dark horses list for this week, Kizzire has the worst odds of anyone that i took a look at. 80/1 is pretty insurmountable, but not impossible. Don’t forget that Satoshi Kodaira won the event last season, and he was 200/1 heading in.

As for Kizzire, he played quite well at The Masters this year. He went 70-70-73-69, ending up T18. Although it isn’t always true that success carries over from week to week, it does seem to have an effect on most players. The Masters can give you a ton of confidence, especially if you shoot -3 on a Sunday there.

For Patton to have a chance at winning this week at The RBC Heritage, he is going to need to put together four sold rounds. He has been running into trouble a bit on Saturdays during his last three tournaments, posting his highest round of the week, with 79-76-73, respectively.

Kizzire does look to be trending in the right direction, leading to him being a strong candidate to be one of the dark horses. If he can bring that Masters swagger to Hilton Head, and improve on his Saturday scores, he will give himself a strong shot heading into Sunday.
