The PGA Tour breaks off from the mold for this week’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans in its third year as a two-man team event.

For those who think that the PGA Tour is too monotonous, this week’s for you. We break from 72 holes of individual stroke play for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

This is year three of the event in its transformation from a standard tournament into a two-man team event.

Rounds 1 and 3 feature alternate shot and 2 and 4 feature best ball. Players stroll up to the first tee with intro music blaring in what amounts to be one of the more lighthearted events in a city that knows how to party.

Host course is TPC Louisiana, which hosted the Zurich Classic in 2005 and since 2007.

Bermuda grass is prevalent with small, over-seeded greens having the potential to play firm. Rough is minimal around TPC Louisiana, but plenty of sand and water add caution.

This is one of Dye’s more mild tracks as the winning stroke play score was 13-under or more between 2005-16.

No one style of play appears to be rewarded here, but teams will need to play aggressively to keep up this week.

Both members of the winning team get a two-year PGA Tour exemption, earn $1.02 million and receive 400 FedEx Cup points. No world ranking points are on the line.

Top 35 teams and ties out of the field of 79 will play the weekend.

Weather looks to be warm and humid with some early tournament rain and light to moderate winds.

Let’s see who can get it done in the Big Easy.
