It’s no Moli-wood, but these two former European Ryder Cup teammates should make for a dynamic pair.

Based on the Official World Golf Rankings, this is the second best pairing with No. 16 Fleetwood and No. 29 Garcia.

Fleetwood teamed with fellow Englishman Chris Paisley to finish T4 at 19-under last year in his Zurich debut.

Garcia was with countryman Rafa Cabrera Bello in one of the marquee pairs of 2018, but the Spaniards went on to miss the cut.

It’s been a strange year for Garcia. He took deserved flack for his green ruining fit at the Saudi International where he was DQ’d. The 2017 Masters champ just MC’d at Augusta a couple weeks ago.

Those two points aside, he’s actually battled to play well. He made the WGC-Match Play quarterfinals where a non-conceded put by Matt Kuchar damaged his chances to advance.

Garcia also has a T6 at the WGC-Mexico, a T9 at the Honda and two European Tour top-10s this season.

Fleetwood has been remarkably steady as a T25 last week at the RBC Heritage was his 16th worldwide stroke play cut made in a row going back to the summer.

Of late he finished T3 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T5 at the Players and T36 at the Masters.

If the easygoing Fleetwood can keep the hot-tempered Garcia at ease, they clearly have the most combined talent of any team in New Orleans this week.
