Zurich Classic of New Orleans: Top 10 power rankings for TPC Louisiana
This is a new duo. Henrik Stenson has dropped his former teammate Justin Rose after failing to post high finishes in 2017 and 2018.
McDowell took T22 with Ian Poulter in 2018.
Together, they make an interesting duo with McDowell’s short game and putting seeming to fit well with Stenson’s laser like ball striking.
McDowell was as low as 257th in the world earlier this year before digging it out of the dirt to win the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship. That helped bump the 2010 U.S. Open champ to his current No. 114 slot.
The Northern Irishman followed Puntacana with a T7 at the Texas Open and a T48 at the RBC Heritage.
The former Ryder Cup hero also has an acumen for team formats.
Stenson is No. 40 in the world and has had a quiet 2019. He showed good signs at the WGC-Match Play where he swept by Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson and Jason Day to win the group.
He fired a Saturday 67 at the Masters en route to T36 in his last start.
Both of these guys love to joke around and will be a fun, lighthearted group to check out this week in the Big Easy.
