When you think of Branden Grace’s best performances, you think of his win at Harbour Town or his triumph at the Alfred Dunhill Links. Firm, fast and the requirement of a sharp short game are course characteristics suitable for his game.

It came of no surprise that the South African finished T3 (66-68-69-62) in his Trinity Forest debut. His Sunday 62 was a nice 30th birthday present.

He did it all under relatively wet conditions, which could be in play again.

“…it feels like a breath of fresh air coming to something different. Really is nice. I really enjoyed the golf course. I enjoyed how it played,” Grace said in 2018. “Obviously I think we’ve got really lucky with the weather and that’s why the scores were so low. It can bite you if it settles in a little bit in the next couple years.”

Grace was pretty solid across the board here in 2018. He hit 83.93% fairways, 79.17% GIR and gained nearly a stroke a day on the greens.

In 2019, Grace had a close call in February at the Phoenix Open where he was solo second. He’s made four of six cuts since then as well as advancing to the round of 16 at the WGC-Match Play.

Grace was 64th in strokes gained around the green and 30th SG putting last season. His numbers have dipped in 2018-19, but this is the type of venue to help get him back on track.
