Lucas Bjerregaard can let the sponsor exemptions flow in. He accepted Special Temporary Membership for the rest of the PGA Tour season, which allows for unlimited exemptions.

He’ll take advantage of one this week as he looks to build on the name he made for himself by unseating Tiger Woods in the WGC-Match Play quarterfinals.

Golf junkies have had the Dane on their radar for a little while. He won on the European Tour each of the past two seasons flanked by dozens of top-10s in the past five years.

A win last year at the Alfred Dunhill Links came over a host of notable names like Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton and Brooks Koepka. Not to mention the high caliber links venues he played en route to victory that compare at least stylistically to Trinity Forest.

The 27-year-old is looking good in his forays this year in the U.S. He finished T12 at the Honda Classic, T30 at the Players Championship, fourth at the Match Play and T21 at the Masters.

Bjerregaard has rested since Augusta, which was his third start in a row and fourth in five weeks.

He’s categorized as more of the bomber type, which could suit the possible wet conditions well this week.
