AT&T Byron Nelson: Top 10 power rankings at Trinity Forest
Cabrera Bello is among the stable of talented Europeans getting some Stateside reps in before next week’s PGA Championship.
He’s 5-for-6 in cuts made in the U.S. in 2019 highlighted by a T3 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He also took T25 at the Genesis Open, T22 at Pebble Beach and in North America was T19 at the WGC-Mexico.
RCB is debuting at Trinity Forest this week. He’s no stranger to links style courses, though.
He won the 2017 Scottish Open and was T4 at the 2017 Open Championship. His last start leading into this week was a T16 at the seaside links of Harbour Town.
Cabrera Bello ranks 31st on the PGA Tour in total strokes gained and is pretty solid tee to green (43rd). His short game isn’t his strength, though it may not need to be called on as much as expected this week if greens are more receptive.
The Spaniard was a Ryder Cup member in 2018 and has been very consistent this decade. He’s also won just once worldwide since 2012 and never on the PGA Tour.
Getting it done this week would go a long way to build his confidence in the States and to raise his stature with the common fan.
