Thomas Pieters – 50/1

Thomas Pieters has been on my radar at every major since his T4 at The Masters back in 2017. It may have helped that I invested a wee bit of capital in him that year. Since then, I’ve kept my eye on him whenever her plays on the PGA Tour.

He makes his way over in preparation for the PGA Championship, as he plays most of his events on the European Tour. In fact, this is the first time since November that he has played a PGA event.

Pieters has never played in the AT&T Byron Nelson, but that doesn’t stop me from thinking he has a chance to finish near the top of the leaderboard. When it comes to making the cut, I’m quite confident in his ability this week to do so.

He has a nice run to start the year on the Euro Tour, going T29, T22, T11, and T6 in four consecutive tournaments. He played well last year at The PGA Championship as well, finishing T6.

Although that event isn’t until next week, I think that Pieters coming over to hone his game in a “warm-up” event is a good sign, and that he will perform well. At 50-1, he seems like a safe bet to make the cut and takes the spot as my top dark horse candidate this week.
