This is our first glimpse of Tiger since his Masters win a month ago. He’s three majors away from tying Jack and does not appear interested in teeing it up much outside the majors.

Woods shouldn’t need much prep for Bethpage as it’s the site of his 2002 U.S. Open victory. In difficult conditions, Woods finished at 3-under to win by three over Phil Mickelson.

He was T6 at the 2009 U.S. Open here and battled back from an opening 74 to finish in 69-68-69.

At the 2012 Barclays he was T38 and he missed the same event in 2016.

Moving to the here and now, Woods has played six events in 2019 and has been rather consistent despite all the time off. He finished inside the top 30 each event including a run to the WGC-Match Play finals and a T10 at the WGC-Mexico Championship.

The 43-year-old doesn’t dominate distance wise like he did back in 2002, but he’s still long enough to get around Bethpage. He ranks 14th in strokes gained approach and first in GIR.

Woods is also fifth in SG around the green and is in the positive for all SG categories.

He’s top-10 in proximity from 200-250 yards.

We’re all eager to see how Woods will fare now that the major chase is back on in full swing. The New York crowds will be behind him; let’s see what Big Cat’s got up his sleeve.
